It was about a week after leaving the LST that my wife and I were driving by Audubon State Park. I mentioned to her that they had a place to swim and so, we thought we would check it out for those times when our grandson came to visit. The swimming area was no more and when we stopped by the office to see if it was gone permanently. we found that It was.
On the spur of the moment, I asked if they took volunteers at the park and I was sent up to see Julie McDonald. She informed me that she could always use help filling bird feeders, walking the trails to see if they needed any work and maybe checking the playgrounds for damage. I worked for her for about 15 minutes....
The curator, Alan Gehret, walked in and asked if I had ever done any research work. I said nope, never. He asked if I would like to and that was the start of what has been a very enjoyable period in my life.
The first Project that I was involved with and still going after 6 or 7 years was the Everyday People project. Click on the photo or Click here: Everyday People, to visit the site. It is a work in process so check all the tabs.
